Tangier is a city in the north of Morocco, capital of Tangier-Arzila and the region of Tangier-Tetouan.
It is situated on the northwestern tip of Africa, on the Atlantic coast and at the western entrance of the Strait of Gibraltar, which joins the Atlantic to the Mediterranean and separates Morocco from Spain. It is 14 km straight from the Iberian peninsula.
Tangier retains its fantastic powerful charm to this day.
From the alleys formerly nefarious in the area of Petit Socco to the many terraces that are today more than ever avant-garde.
The medina of Tangiers have always fascinated with the charm of Petit Socco Square and its cafes.
The old Mendoub Palace, built in 1929, situated north of the medina, is now a mansion for foreign VIPs. The museum situated at the southern end, exhibits paintings and a bedroom is dedicated to the American writer Paul Bowles.
It is a very pleasant walk in Mendoubia Park located north of Grand Socco Square. A giant fig tree and a dragon tree, allegedly more than 800 years old, stands out from the visit. Visit the Rue de Liberté, a shopping street in the Place de France which is the heart of the modern city. There you will find the famous Grand Café de Paris and the El Minzah Hotel, both of which were famous haunts of the arts and literature of the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. This place is still very fashionable. Enjoy the wonderful view of the medina and the harbor and the bay of Tangier from the Faro Square, with its canons, is worth visiting.
