In 2003, the CAPEL and Control cooperatives started the Ruta del Pisco project, with the aim of showing visitors and tourists a tour of various places in the Elqui Valley, related to the history, tradition and production of Chilean pisco.

Within the framework of the Ruta del Pisco, CAPEL created the Pisco Museum in the vicinity of Vicuña, where the history of Chilean pisco is exposed, from its origins around the 16th century, and the main milestones in its production.

















By plane

The fastest way to access the Valley is by air to La Serena. In front of the terminal entrance, you can take a bus to go directly to the valley without necessarily going down to La Serena.

By bus

There are daily departures from the Coquimbo Bus Terminal (Avenida Varela 1300) and La Serena Bus Terminal (Amunátegui s / n). There are stops in Esmeralda street s / nº, Plaza de Abastos, between Juan de Dios Pení and Colo Colo streets.

By car

If you are traveling by car, either from the south or the north of Chile, you must take Ruta 5 Norte towards La Serena.

From La Serena you must take Avenida Francisco de Aguirre, heading east, to continue along Calle Larraín Alcalde, Juan de Dios Pení and Cisternas. From this last street, take Avenida 18 de Septiembre, to start the route that leads to the Elqui Valley. There is adequate road signs. The distance from La Serena to Pisco Elqui is 105 km, a trip that can be done in an hour and a half approx.





It is a green oasis, located between the arid mountains of the middle desert with more than 300 days of sunshine in the year.

The town is surrounded by vineyards, since pisco activity has its raw material in grapes. The same as over the years and the productive evolution brought by modern times have varied table grapes in a large percentage and vine grapes in a small but significant percentage. But the core thing is that the valley is still a vineyard and the characteristic is still Pisco.
