This Fort, consecrated to Saint Anthony, was built in the reigns of D. Manuel or D. João III, at an undetermined date, but prior to 1587 - since it was drawn on the map of this region during the attack of Francis Drake. Its function was to control a zone of possible landing and to protect the fishermen who had a tuna fishing frame there.
It is located in dominant position of the beach of Beliche Velho, in the cape of São Vicente, Algarve, in Portugal.
